“You must create disorder in your business, otherwise you will stagnate,” Will Butler-Adams, chief executive of Brompton, told manufacturers at a Guardian seminar in Birmingham on Wednesday.
Butler-Adams, who was one of the speakers at the Trade Boost event, revealed that the folding bicycles business started exporting in case the UK market ran out of steam.
The seminar, sponsored by UPS and part of UK Trade and Investment’s Exporting is Great campaign, aimed to help aspiring and current exporters win new business overseas.
It kicked off with an overview on the state of manufacturing, followed by a look at the successes and failures of small businesses that are already exporting, the nitty gritty of the supply chain, hurdles to export and logistics. Here are a selection of tweets from event:
