Manuel Pellegrini reveals when Samir Nasri could return to first team training with West Ham

Manuel Pellegrini is hopeful midfielder Samir Nasri will be able to work with the first team squad when they report back for training at Rush Green on Tuesday following the Spurs game this weekend.

Nasri is going to miss out for the fifth game in succession on Saturday as a result of his third calf muscle problem in just short of five months with the club having penned a short term contract in January.

The 31-year-old had been out of action for more than a year as a result of a drugs ban and trained with the Hammers and his former manager for a couple of months before signing on the dotted line for six months,

However, persistent injury issues have hampered the midfielder throughout his short stay in the capital and his chances of earning a longer contract with the contract are decreasing by the week. Football.London understands Nasri wants £80,000 a week to stay with the club and a considerable appearance bonus to boot.

Pellegrini urges West Ham and Spurs fans to behave themselves as bitter rivals lock horns

With the Hammers having Mondays off training, the manager is confident that Nasri will be a part of training when they report back the following day.

"Yes I hope that Samir next Tuesday will start working with the squad," the Chilean said.

He was then pushed on whether signing Nasri had not paid off. Last week, football.london asked the boss the same thing and once again this time around, the manager deflected the question.

Lanzini not risked, Zabaleta, Snodgrass and Anderson start - predicted West Ham XI vs Spurs

We are going to decide not only about Nasri, about next season and the whole squad, when we finish this season," he added bluntly.

Nasri has made just six appearances in claret and blue and hasn't turned out since the 4-3 win over Huddersfield Town. He was due to take to the pitch for the second half of the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea but injured himself in the warm up.
