Manuel Pellegrini has stated he wanted to spend big in the transfer market to improve Real Betis ahead of their Europa League opener with Celtic.
Ange Postecoglou 's side travel to Spain for their first group stage clash against Betis in Seville, where Celtic famously played the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.
Betis have made a disappointing start to the season and have just two points from three La Liga games.
Former Manchester City boss Pellegrini admits he wanted to spend big ahead a Europa League push this term.
However, the only fee on Argentinian defender German Pezzella for a meagre £3million.

Pellegrini said: "During the transfer window I would have liked to have much more money than we did.
"The last time Betis were in Europe, the club spent €100million on new players and I would have loved to have spent that too.
"But there is a pandemic and economic reality has to bite.
"I have brought in players on loans and free transfers who are experienced players who know La Liga and European competitions and what it takes to play there.
"We have a squad that is going to be competitive and, like last season, when nobody expected it, we will try to go as far as possible in the three competitions.
"The season hasn't started particularly well, but I am not worried about that at all. Football is very changeable."
