Manu Bhaker to shoot in five events at Junior World Championships

PUNE: Shooter Manu Bhaker, who had a series of unfortunate events at the Tokyo Olympics, will try to put the disappointment of the Olympics behind and reset her target at the Junior circuit once again.

Manu, 19, who last shot at a junior event in 2018, has been selected to participate at the ISSF Junior World Championships, to be held in Lima, Peru, from September 27.

Manu has been selected for five events – 10m air pistol, 25m sports pistol and 10m air pistol mixed, 10m women’s team and 25m women’s team – at the premier event.

She will partner Sarabjot Singh in the 10m mixed event.

In shotgun, Shapath Bhardwaj, who had won bronze at the 2017 junior World Cup in the double trap event, has been selected to represent the country in the trap event at Lima.

This will be Shapath's first international event since making his transition to trap, after double trap was delisted from the Olympics.
