Mansour's NRL season over at Souths

A knee injury looks to have brought winger Josh Mansour's first season at South Sydney to an end. (AAP)

South Sydney have copped another blow on the eve of the NRL finals, with winger Josh Mansour set to miss the rest of the year with a knee injury.

Mansour was hurt when he fumbled a high ball in the Rabbitohs' loss to his former club Penrith, most notably with a cut to the face from accidental contact.

However scans have since revealed damage to his knee, with the Rabbitohs conceding they now do not expect him to return this year.

"He's done his knee. I'm not too sure how bad it is but I don't think he will play any further this season," Souths captain Adam Reynolds revealed.

"It's unfortunate. He's knuckled down excellently and obviously a key member of our squad.

"He's in high spirits this morning getting around the boys and is getting on with the recovery now."

Mansour had only just nailed down a regular starting spot for the first time this year, after coming in and out of the Rabbitohs' side.

Jaxson Paulo will likely be the front-runner to take his spot on the right wing, ahead of Taane Milne.
