Mansfield Town CEO attacked by armed robbers in Algarve

The boss of League Two club Mansfield Town said she is recovering after being attacked by armed robbers in the Portuguese Algarve.

Chief executive Carolyn Radford said she was on the school run when she was approached by two men dressed as police officers who robbed her and took her jewellery.

Mrs Radford, who owns and runs The Stags alongside her husband John, said it happened shortly after dropping her children off at school on the morning of November 10.

The mum-of-three was in the southern town of Almancil, Portugal, and spoke of the ordeal on Instagram.

During the appeal she struggled to hold back her tears.

In the video, Mrs Radford says: “Just wanted to make everyone aware that this morning, on the way back from the school run, two men on a motorcycle pulled me over and armed robbed me.

“They were dressed as police officers and attacked me and stole my jewellery. Thank God the kids were not in the car with me.

“I just wanted to make people aware here in The Algarve that this is happening and if anyone has any information please let the police know.

“It was in Almancil and this should not reflect the good people of Portugal, so if anybody can help please let me know.”

Mrs Radford ended her Instagram story with a picture of a large ring.

Nottinghamshire Live contacted Mansfield Town Football Club regarding the incident.

A spokesman added: “There is no intention at this stage to add to what Carolyn has put on social media.”
