A Nottinghamshire singer has appeared of Channel 4 dating show First Dates.
Holiday resort singer Abbie, from Mansfield, said she was looking to find more than a 'summer fling' when she decided to sign up for the programme.
She was one half of four couples hoping the find love when her episode aired on Tuesday, January 26.
She said: “I’m at a point in my life now where I love myself enough to be able to love someone else properly. No regrets, life’s too short not to dance to your favourite Whitney song.”
She was paired with Danny, 30, a barber shop owner and karaoke fan from Preston who was instantly attracted to her singing abilities.
“My perfect man would be someone athletic, business-owner, who’s really got a passion for what they do who’s going to show me how to love a woman because I’ve never seen it before,” the 25 year old added.
Her date with Danny started well, before he admitted he was the ‘fish and rice cake guy’ from a viral video when he was 16.
She admitted to seeing the video and laughing about it with her friends, and quoting the video “for weeks”.
Abbie and Danny exchanged dating stories, with the Mansfield local admitting her job made having a relationship more difficult.
She said: “As soon as I sit down with a guy and say ‘I’m a singer and I might leave the country, but I’ll be back’ they don’t tend to invest their time with me.
“Every year I do a different adventure.”
At the end of the episode Abbie and Danny were asked if they wanted to see each other again.
Abbie’s date said: “Yeah, I’d like to get to know her a bit more.”
But Abbie disagreed and gave Danny some dating advice instead.
She told him: “I feel like romantically we wouldn’t be compatible.
“Maybe save the funny stories for the third date?”
In a big twist on the show, another diner on the show, Lauren, 23, admitted to having a big crush on Danny, rather than her own date.
Danny later reappeared on the show to go on a date with Lauren.
