Manor Solomon odds on success at Tottenham Hotspur after completing transfer

Manor Solomon has secured his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer making him the fourth summer signing to join Ange Postecoglou's side. The Israeli winger joins Dejan Kulusevski, Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison as the Australian head coach continues to strengthen his side quickly in the summer transfer window as they look to secure European football next season.

Solomon was under contract with Shakhtar Donetsk until the end of this year. However, due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, FIFA granted all non-Ukrainian nationals playing in the country the right to suspend their contracts. This suspension goes beyond the expiration of the player's deal.

The exciting news is that Solomon will soon have the chance to face his former team. A friendly match against Shakhtar Donetsk is scheduled at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, August 6. It will be an interesting reunion for Solomon as he takes on his former teammates.

Solomon, 23, completed the free transfer after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk having recently completed a season-long loan at Fulham where he received plenty of plaudits. The Israeli international now has a five-year contract at the north London club where the club will be looking to complete at least one or two objectives - return to European football and win a trophy.

To win a trophy?

It is fair to say that the next manager to bring home some silverware to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be known treated as a legend as the club look to secure their first trophy since 2008. A Champions League final and a title-challenge back in 2016 in the Premier League are some of the most notable moments the club have been close to bringing home some silverware but could they break the duck this season?

The Premier League title is a slight optimistic task to achieve with Man City 4/5 favourites with Betway to retain the title while Spurs are 50/1 longshots to lift their first domestic league title since 1961 so attention may have to be moved to the cups.

In the FA Cup they have not reached the final since lifting the trophy back in 1991 but have managed to bow out at the semi-final stage eight times since then. Spurs are 14/1 to lift the trophy at Wembley next season and are the same odds to secure the EFL Cup from Manchester United next season too.

Return to Europe?

There is no doubt that European football is the priority for Pstecoglou and his side as they look to return to the top six at the very least. Spurs go into this season with no European competition on their schedule after missing out on the Conference League to Aston Villa on the last day of the season but the extra days off mean they can focus solely on the league.

Betway have priced Spurs in at 11/10 to return to the top six and secure a place in Europe for 2024 ahead of Europa League-bound Brighton & Hove Albion who are 2/1 and Villa who are 11/4. Solomon will be looking to feature prominently next season for Spurs and improve his contributions after picking up four goals in 19 league appearances last season for Fulham.
