Manny Pacquiao's three-man shortlist for next fight amid Floyd Mayweather interest

Manny Pacquiao has a three-man shortlist for his return to the ring, according to the president of MP Promotions, Sean Gibbons.

Pacquiao rolled back the years to outpoint Keith Thurman in his last fight, and after returning to his Senator duties in the Philippines, he is in line to return to action in March or April 2020.

The legendary 40-year-old has a clash with Danny Garcia, Mikey Garcia or Shawn Porter planned for his first bout next year.

But with old rival Floyd Mayweather announcing a comeback expected to consist of two fights in 2020, there is also interest in a rematch further down the line in September.

“He’s going to sort out what the next step is. [Danny] Garcia, [Shawn] Porter or if Mikey [Garcia] is still floating around,” Gibbons told Seconds Out.

“Mikey Garcia lost to Errol Spence. There’s no same. Everybody said, ‘Errol Spence is the best and whatever.'

“Mikey actually fits better with Manny because of the size. Manny is more of a 140-pounder.

"The real pot at the end of the rainbow is Mayweather. Now all of a sudden you have Floyd Mayweather saying, ‘Hey, I’m coming back in 2020, I’m doing two fights, and ones a senator."

A fight with Danny Garcia looks least likely given he has a fight scheduled on January 25, with Mikey Garcia, 39-1 with just a single defeat at the hands of Errol Spence, seemingly the most likely contender.

But Shawn Porter, who recently lost to Spence before the champion was injured in a serious car crash, could also be in the frame.

Mayweather is on Pacquiao's radar after coming out of retirement, although the undefeated American has played down talk of a rematch.

In response to Mayweather's announcement he was planning to come out of retirement last week, Pacquiao's manager told The Athletic : "Viva Floyd!! Let’s Go Champ".
