Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged Indians to go for a “Cashless Day Out” every once in a while to benefit the digital economy, adding that online payments were developing a digital economy, encouraging an atmosphere of “honesty” with over ₹20,000 crore online payments taking place daily in the country.
In his monthly radio broadcast, “Mann Ki Baat” , Mr. Modi said small online payments were helping build a big digital economy and many new fintech start-ups are coming up.
He also urged people who have any experience related to digital payments and the startup ecosystem to share it with others. “Your experiences can be a source of inspiration for others in the country,” he said.
He said people from across the country have written letters and messages to him about the Museum of Prime Ministers inaugurated on April 14, the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
“There can be no better time than 75 years of India’s Independence to remember the contribution of prime ministers,” Mr. Modi said.
He also urged people to visit a local museum during holidays and share their experiences using the hashtag ‘MuseumMemories’.
He then asked four questions in a fun game to test his listeners’ general knowledge on the country’s famous museums. “We have spoken about a museum for so long, now, I would like to ask you some questions... let’s see how good your general knowledge is,” he said as he asked four questions. Mr Modi also gave clues with each question to help with the answers.
In his remarks, Mr. Modi noted that just like in sports, divyangjan (differently abled) are doing wonders in arts, academics and many other fields. With the power of technology, they are achieving greater heights, he said.
He also urged people to take all COVID-19 related precautions in view of upcoming festivals in May.
