Manisha Koirala on 'RRR' and 'The Elephant Whisperer' bagging Oscars: I want this to be the beginning of a wondrous journey – Exclusive

It was a day to remember for India at the Oscars 2023 after the country bagged two coveted trophies- one for ‘The Elephant Whisperer’ for Best Documentary Short and ‘Naatu Naatu’ from ‘RRR’ for Best Original Song.

Manisha Koirala joined the bandwagon of celebrities showering praise on both the team. The actress told ETimes, “I am extremely proud that we bagged two prestigious awards at the Oscars 2023. Both ‘Naatu Naatu’ and ‘The Elephant Whisperer’ are well-deserved!”

Elaborating further, she added, “I feel like we are finally being recognised for making world-class products. I want this to be only the beginning of a wondrous journey! The Indian film industry has been making good content, and we need to recognise that and push it forward in the world.”

The first Hindi film which MM Keeravani scored for was 'Criminal'. The love ballad 'Tum Mile Dil Khile' featuring Nagarjuna and Manisha Koirala became an instant classic.

Reacting to his historic win, MM Keeravani said, “I told you I was confident we’d do it. But I’ve to admit even then, that the actual announcement is a different feeling altogether. I can’t explain it. I want to say, this Oscar belongs to all of us in the RRR team: Rajamouli, Ramcharan, NTR Jr, lyricist Chandrabose, singers Rahul Sipligunj, Kaala Bhairava. Most importantly, we’ve made our country proud. No words to express my gratitude.”
