'Maniacal Priti Patel's racist Bill could rip families apart and split Britain'

First they drove vans around the UK’s streets telling us Black and Asian people to “go home”.

Then they ramped up their hostile environment with Windrush. Now this.

As kids we used to joke with our dark sense of humour that the old National Front – now it would be the BNP – would kick non-white people out of this country if they ever got into power.

Instead it is the Tories. Executing that strategy right now in plain sight.

The Nationalities and Borders Bill is the most racist piece of legislation in the last 50 years. It could wreck relationships, rip families apart, affect your friends and split Britain.

Do you agree? Have your say in the comment section

For the uninitiated, the Bill means any foreign-born British citizen can now be deprived of their citizenship, without notice or notification.

Forget dual citizenship; individuals can be made stateless so long as the British Government believes they are eligible for citizenship of another country.

Analysis from the 2011 census suggests there are as many as 5.5 million people in England and Wales who fall into this category.

Under David Cameron’s leadership, the Tories were at least sneaky and underhand about their intentions. Now they just don’t care.

And in case you think it only affects families outside your culture, think about what it means for the people within your wider family who may be married to someone from outside this country.

This isn’t just about, for example, what you may or not think of Shamima Begum, the woman made stateless after joining – then renouncing – ISIS in the interests of national security. This is about purging the UK of the Black and Asian people the country deems not British enough.

It is about dividing us into those who are useful and those who are not.

Ironically it is led by our maniacal Home Secretary, Priti Patel, whose own parents fled persecution in Uganda to come here.

There is a reason why Black and Asian people of my parents’ generation retained their passports. That time they always feared has arrived.

Patel and her party might not start shipping our families out overnight. But they are clearly building a framework for that kind of sinister action down the road.

Makosi the motivator

It really is scary to think that it is 16 years since Makosi Musambasi shot to “fame” in the Big Brother house.

She became a hit after appearing in the sixth series, engaging in the kind of hot-tub shenanigans your mother wouldn’t approve of.

Back then she was a nurse and proved so popular that she was invited back to appear in Ultimate Big Brother in 2010.

Currently, though, she is 41 and a motivational speaker in Nigeria. Her Instagram account is punctuated by inspirational quotes that suggest she is now a very different person.

I have to admit, however, Big Brother was my guilty pleasure. If they wanted to revive the concept I could be tempted to take a peek.

Hamilton denied disgracefully

If ever a day could have locked in a new generation of motor racing fans it was Sunday.

The duel between Lewis Hamilton and rising star Max Verstappen had us all on the edge of our seats.

Instead, the goalposts being moved disgracefully to deny Hamilton a deserved win looks to have lost many of the fans the sport already had.
