A manhunt is ongoing to find a prisoner that escaped from custody more than two weeks ago.
According to local reports, the man, who is aged in his 20s remains at large after escaping soon after he appeared before a vacation sitting of Limerick District Court on August 21.
It is understood that the man was brought from Limerick courthouse through the main gates of Limerick prison before running through the visitor entrance and escaping.
According to the Limerick Leader, the man, who has a string of previous convictions managed to evade a number of gardai while handcuffed.
A garda spokesman said: "We can confirm that investigations are currently ongoing into this matter."
The Irish Prison Service has also been contacted in relation to this story.
