Manhunt underway after student murdered at University of Washington off-campus housing

  • Seattle police are investigating a homicide after a 19-year-old transgender female University of Washington student was found fatally stabbed in a student housing laundry room on Sunday night.

  • Police stated that while the suspect is considered dangerous, they do not believe anyone else is currently at risk, but emphasized the importance of apprehending him quickly.
  • University of Washington President Robert J. Jones expressed profound loss and acknowledged that violence affecting a trans person can be particularly concerning for the LGBTQIA+ community, with support being offered to students.
