Police inquiries are continuing to trace a driver whose car crashed into a house and burst into flames.
The incident took place on Goathland Avenue, in Longbenton , on Sunday morning when a silver vehicle ploughed into a home.
It is understood the car came off the road, crossed a garden in front of the property and then hit a wall before it caught fire.
Nobody in the house was injured. However, neighbours saw the car engulfed in flames and called the emergency services.
Police say they received reports there may have been three people in the vehicle at the time, who all left the scene after the collision.
On Monday morning, they confirmed that no arrests had been made and investigations were continuing.
A spokesman from Northumbria Police added: "Inquiries are still under way to trace the driver."
An appeal for witnesses has also been made.
Sgt Pinner Rana, of the Northumbria Police motor patrols department, said: "We received a report of a collision in Longbenton at 7.11am.
"A vehicle, for reasons yet to be established, has left the road and gone into a garden before crashing into the house.
"The vehicle burst into flames and caused damage to the property. The people in the car have left the scene on foot.
"Inquiries are ongoing into the incident and we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward."
