Manhunt still ongoing for attacker who stabbed man in East End of Newcastle

Police have confirmed no arrests have been made after a 34-year-old man was stabbed in Newcastle.

Emergency services were called at around 9.35pm on Saturday night to reports of a stabbing at an address on Monkchester Road, Walker .

Paramedics found a man at a bus stop on the road who had a stab wound and had also suffered facial injuries.

He was taken to hospital and his injuries were not not life-threatening.

The attacker fled the scene and a manhunt is under way to find the person responsible.

A number of police vehicles, including the police dogs team, were visible at the scene with officers understood to have been searching drains.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "Shortly after 9.35pm Saturday, police received a report that a 34-year-old man had been assaulted at an address on Monkchester Road, Newcastle.

"Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries consistent with a stabbing.

"Inquiries into the circumstances around the incidents are ongoing.

"Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 981 02/11/19 or via the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
