Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in the neck with broken glass at East Croydon station.

The victim, in his 30s, was attacked around 11.30am on Saturday after an altercation broke out.

It then spilt out into the taxi rank on Billington Hill before the attack took place.

Detectives investigating the stabbing have released CCTV images of a man who they believe has information that will help their investigation.

An air ambulance responded and the victim was taken to hospital.

Luckily his injuries were described as non-life threatening and he has since been discharged.

A witness who saw the fight said: "Just saw a fight outside East Croydon station which I think has resulted in a stabbing."

Another said: “Air ambulance just landed in Park Hill Park, near central Croydon and the crew on board have headed towards the town centre.

"I hope whoever they're here to treat is OK."

After the fight, the man pictured came back into East Croydon station and boarded the train with a female companion.

The woman had dark hair, was wearing a white and black striped top and dark bottoms.

Police would like to appeal for the woman to come forward to help their investigation as she is believed to have witnessed the altercation.

Any witnesses or anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV images is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 194 of 24/08/19.

Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
