Manhunt launched for dangerous convict on the run from Derbyshire prison

A manhunt has been launched for a dangerous convict who absconded from a Derbyshire prison.

The public are urged not to approach Jason McCormack, who left the open Sudbury Prison, just off the A50, on Saturday April 27, and has not been seen since.

DerbyshireLive reports police are now appealing for help to identify his whereabouts.

McCormack, 32, was convicted of firearms offences and production of cannabis at Bradford Crown Court in May 2018 and sentenced to five years and four months in prison.

He has been described by police as white, 5ft 8ins tall and of a medium build with short brown hair and brown eyes.

McCormack has an angel tattoo on his left arm.

According to the police force he has links with West Yorkshire, with a spokesman saying: "Members of the public are asked not to approach him but instead contact us using one of the non-emergency contact methods."

These include social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter, or through calls to 101.

Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
