Manhunt launched as boy, 6, left with facial injuries after horror hit and run collision in Edinburgh

A police manhunt has been launched after a six-year-old boy was left injured following a hit and run collision in Edinburgh.

The youngster suffered facial injuries after being involved in the accident on the West Approach Road at around 4.45pm on Friday.

The driver, who was behind the wheel of a grey Skoda, failed to stop at the scene after striking the young pedestrian.

Police are appealing for witnesses in a bid to catch the cowardly motorist.

A statement from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “EdinburghRP are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run collision that occurred on the West Approach Road, Edinburgh at around 16:45hrs today.

“A 6-year-old pedestrian sustained facial injuries and the driver of the grey Skoda failed to stop at the scene.”

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident reference number 2629 of October 6, 2020.
