Manhunt launched after seven cars smashed up and broken into in Fife village

A manhunt has been launched after spate of vandalism saw seven cars smashed in or broken into in a Fife village.

Police in Glenrothes are probing the incident, which took place on Kinglassie's Main Street or some its surrounding roads over the Easter weekend.

The vehicles either had their windows shattered with personal items being stolen from inside.

Now cops are checking CCTV footage in an attempt to track those responsible.

Glenrothes Community Inspector Kirk Donnelly, said: "Kinglassie is a small village and I am sure someone would have either seen, heard or have information about what’s happened to these cars over the weekend.

Officers are checking CCTV at the moment and speaking to local residents, however, we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen someone or maybe a group of people acting suspiciously near to vehicles or in the area in the last couple of days.

"Additional patrols will be in the area to provide public reassurance and to engage with the public especially at this time in relation to the Government guidelines prohibiting the congregation of more than two people.

"I would also urge residents to make sure their personal belongings are removed from their vehicles and that the vehicles are then locked and secured."

Information can contact Glenrothes Police Station via 101 quoting reference number 1105 of 12 April 2020 or anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
