Manhunt launched after Scots firebug torched back garden overnight

Police are hunting a firebug who torched a back garden in West Lothian.

The thug set two fires in the garden of a property in Shaw Avenue, Armadale in the early hours of Friday morning.

Officers believe the incident took place at around 2.20am.

The suspect jumped into a neighbouring garden before fleeing the scene.

He is described as being white, around fie foot, seven inches tall with a slim build.

At the time of the inferno he was wearing black clothing with his hood up.

Nobody was injured as a result of the blaze which was 'extinguished in good time' according to police who slammed the act as 'malicious'.

As their manhunt rages on, officers are urging locals with CCTV or anyone else with information that could help with their probe, to come forward.

Detective Constable Kenny Alexander said: “Thankfully the fires were extinguished in good time and there were no injuries as a result of this malicious act.

“We’re appealing to anyone with information on the incident, or if you live locally and believe you may have CCTV footage, to please come forward.

“If you believe you can assist our investigation, call 101, quoting incident 0299 of September 24.

"Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
