Manhunt launched after pervert performs indecent act on Ayrshire beach in 'very distressing' incident

A manhunt has been launched after a pervert performed an indecent act in front of a woman walking her dogs on an Ayrshire beach.

Police have described the incident as “very distressing” and are appealing to anyone with information after a man was seen carrying out an indecent act on himself while standing on the sand dunes on Irvine’s South Beach.

A woman walking her dogs along the footpath next to the golf course encountered the man around 8.50pm yesterday, August 11.

The woman returned to her car and contacted the police, who are now searching for the person responsible.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft6, of average build, with dark hair around neck length and no facial hair. He was wearing a black hat, a black face mask, a black hoodie and dark jeans.

Sergeant Gordon Young from Irvine Police Station said: “This was a very distressing incident for the woman and it is vital that we trace the person responsible.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of South Beach on Wednesday evening, and noticed the man described or anything at all suspicious, to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 3390 of Wednesday 11th August, 2021. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
