Manhunt launched after mugger tries to steal woman's handbag in Aberdeen

Police are appealing for information after a woman was the victim of an attempted robbery in Aberdeen.

The 60-year-old was approached by another woman on Hilton Drive around 6.15am on Friday, January 8.

The thug tried to grab her handbag, causing a struggle, before making off empty-handed.

Police are now appealing to anyone who may have any information about the incident to come forward.

She is described as aged in her 40s to 50s, of a larger build, with brown hair.

She was wearing a dark jacket with a floral pattern, dark trousers and dark boots.

Detective Sergeant Emma Low said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch.

“In particular I would ask anyone driving in the area at the time who may have dash-cam footage that could help to contact us.

“If you can help please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0542 of Friday, 8 January, 2021, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
