Manhunt launched after gang vandalise shop windows in Newcastle's West End

A manhunt has been launched after a gang targeted a shop in Newcastle's West End.

Northumbria Police received a report at about 8.30pm on Tuesday that a number of men had damaged windows of Cinema Snacks on Two Ball Lonnen.

A van that was associated to the premises was also attacked and damaged by the gang .

The men had fled the scene before officers arrived, and nobody was injured in the attack.

An investigation has been launched by detectives in Central CID and they are now appealing for anyone who may know those responsible.

Detective Constable Kelly Adams-Gray said: "This was a significant disturbance in a busy area early in the evening and there would have been witnesses.

"We have already reviewed CCTV and spoken to a number of people in the area but we are now appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, saw those involved leaving the area around 8.30pm or who actually knows those involved.

"Any piece of information could be really helpful to our enquiry so if you saw something that didn't seem quite right then pick up the phone and call police."

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting log 984 16/04/19, email  central.intelligence@northumbria.pnn.police.uk  or report it online at www.northumbria.police.uk .
