Manhunt launched after 36-year-old 'viciously' stabbed in the neck by thugs in Fife

A manhunt has been launched after a 36-year-old was stabbed in the neck by two thugs in Fife.

The victim was confronted by two men doorway of a house on Fod Street in the Halbeath area of Dunfermline around 7.30pm on Monday April 1.

After an exchange between the three, the suspects then knifed him with a bladed or pointed weapon before taking off in an unknown direction.

The man was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are appealing for information over the incident and confirmed they are treating the "vicious attack" as attempted murder.

Detective Sergeant Alexander Brydon of Fife’s Criminal Investigation Department said:  “This was a vicious attack which has left victim seriously harmed.  

“Thankfully the victim was quickly attended to, however the consequences of this attack could have been much more serious.

“We are eager to trace the two men involved as soon as possible.  I would appeal to anyone who was in the Fod Street area of Halbeath on the evening of Monday, April 1, and saw anything suspicious, to come forward at their earliest convenience.”

Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3583 of April 1, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
