Manhunt: ITV detective drama starring Martin Clunes filming on Bristol residential road

Filming for season two of the ITV detective drama Manhunt has been taking place in Bristol today (October 29).

The drama, which stars West Country-born actor and Doc Martin star Martin Clunes, focuses on the murder of French student Amélie Delagrange in London in 2004.

The first series, which stars Clunes as lead investigator DCI Colin Sutton, aired on ITV in early 2019 and was renewed for a second series in March of the same year.

Filming now appears to be underway, with a Bristol residential road having been closed off today for shooting to take place.

Reedley Road, in Stoke Bishop, was closed and reports emerged of a police presence on the road, which later turned out to be the cast and crew of the drama.

The drama tells the story of how the murder of French national Amelie Delagrange, in 2004, was eventually linked to the killing of Marsha McDonnell in 2003 and the abduction and murder of Milly Dowler as she walked home from school in 2002.

The series, written with the help of Sutton's own memoirs of the investigation, sees him and the Metropolitan Police pursue notorious murderer Levi Bellfield, played by Celyn Jones.

Clunes was confirmed to be fronting the series in 2017, and told Mirror Online after the conclusion of series one that he was "proud" of the show.

He also said that DCI Sutton's other investigations were also being looked at for potential involvement in the series.

He said: “Manhunt did make me proud, because it was quite a risk for us.

“My wife had spent four years contacting the family members of the people involved and clearing it with compliance, legally.

“Colin was very helpful making it and was around a lot. There is another equally grisly case Colin solved that we are looking into.”

The series ended up being ITV's highest rated launch of a new drama series since the first series of Broadchurch in 2013.
