Man in custody after alleged Risdon Vale home invasion arrested

Tasmania Police speak to a motorist during the search for a man.

A man accused of storming a house and demanding money at gunpoint on Hobart's eastern shore has been taken into police custody, while the search continues for a second suspect.

Tasmania Police said the two men entered a property in Risdon Vale about 1:00pm on Sunday, armed with a firearm.

No one was injured and police do not believe shots were fired, but the men took a small amount of money from the resident, who was known to them.

They fled the house on a white trail bike, prompting a ground and helicopter search of the Risdon Vale area, which was in lockdown during the afternoon.

Additional police resources were also brought in from across the greater Hobart area to assist.

The 27 year-old man in custody is assisting police with their investigations.

Police are calling on anyone who may have seen the trail bike or the 24 year-old man still at large to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
