Manhunt for knife wielding robber as CCTV images released

A manhunt is underway to trace a knife-wielding robber who burst into a newsagents.

The incident occurred at RMS News and Wine on St Mary's Road, Garston, at 2.35pm on Friday August 21.

Merseyside Police say the man, brandishing a large knife, walked up to the counter and demanded cash.

However the robber seemingly got spooked when another customer entered the shop, and fled empty handed.

A Force spokeswoman said: "We have issued CCTV images of a man we want to trace following an attempted armed robbery at a shop in Garston.

"At around 2.35pm on Friday 21st August a male armed with a knife entered RMS News and Wine on St Mary’s Road.

"He walked up to the counter and demanded cash. When another customer entered the shop he left empty-handed.

"Nobody was injured during the incident."
