Manhunt as driver dumps car after police chase

A manhunt was launched after a driver led police on a chase in Wirral this afternoon.

Officers were made aware of a car failing to stop in Wallasey at around midday on Thursday, August 26.

After a chase, which saw police cars and a helicopter deployed, a Volkswagen Golf was found abandoned on Walmsley Street.

Merseyside Police confirmed enquiries remain ongoing as they continue to search the surrounding area for the driver.
