A driver miraculously managed to walk away from the mangled wreckage of a Volvo after it careered into a parked van.
The crash happened at 4.25pm on Sunday on Southport Road, Bootle, when the Volvo C70 collided with a Mercedes Sprinter van.
A BMW was also damaged during the incident.
The male driver of the Volvo was taken to hospital as a precaution but wasn’t injured.
A Merseyside Police spokesman described his brush with serious injury as "remarkable."
The accident happened the day after heavy rain in the county, on Saturday, when the downpour led to difficult conditions on the roads.
A spokesman said: "[There was] lots of standing water and surface spray and several road traffic collisions due to aqua-planning."
