MANGALURU: A doctor serving at the district Wenlock Hospital here on contract basis was arrested on Monday on charges of sexually harassing a minor girl and also threatening her.
The arrested is Dr Anush Naik, 35. In a police complaint, the survivor’s mother said her daughter met the accused at a government hospital last year. The accused had proposed to the minor, aged around 14, which the girl had accepted.
One day while dropping the survivor to her house, the doctor allegedly sexually harassed her.
On getting to know that the accused was reportedly married, the survivor had stopped being in touch with him over the phone. Enraged over it, the accused had allegedly called her and issued a threat of dire consequences if she failed to speak to him. He even threatened to kill her parents, recently.
Police filed a complaint under Section 8, 12 of the Pocso Act and IPC Section 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) at the Vittal police station on Sunday.
