The protesters demanded the government and Mangalore University not to implement the NEP.

Later, the police took all the protesters into police custody. They were taken to Konaje police station.

An inaugural ceremony was held at the Mangala Auditorium of the university.

At the inaugural ceremony, the minister said, "Opposition parties and organisations have been trying to misguide people. Through the NEP, the government is bringing reformation in education that is essential for the 21st century."
