Australia are being made to toil in the women's day-night Test against India on the Gold Coast, with opener Smriti Mandhana's historic maiden hundred putting the tourists in control.
At dinner on day two, India are 3-231 having added 99 for the loss of two wickets in an extended first session at Metricon Stadium on Friday.
Mandhana's 127 is not only the first Test century for an Indian woman in Australia but eclipses Englishwoman Molly Hide's 124 from 1949 as the highest score by an overseas player in a women's Test on these shores.
Mandhana had not added to her overnight score of 80 when she hit an Ellyse Perry full toss to Beth Mooney at point in the second over of the day.
Australia's celebrations were cut short when replays showed Perry had overstepped and Mandhana was given a reprieve via a no-ball.
From there Mandhana made Australia pay, reaching her hundred off 170 balls with 18 fours and one six.
The 25-year-old left-hander extended her partnership for the second wicket with Punam Raut past a hundred runs before she was caught by Tahlia McGrath off the bowling of Ashleigh Gardner (1-26).
Teenage debutante Annabel Sutherland (0-25) was troubling Indian captain Mithali Raj in an encouraging spell for the 19-year-old but it was Sophie Molineux who claimed Australia's second wicket of the day.
After Raut (36) showed tremendous patience in her 165-ball innings, she surprisingly decided to walk when Alyssa Healy claimed a catch off Molineux despite umpire Phillip Gillespie shaking his head in response to Australia's appeal.
The wicket was Molineux's second of the match, giving the left-arm spinner figures of (2-22) from 11 overs.
After almost two sessions were lost to rain on Thursday, there was no sign of forecast bad weather so far on Friday with 40 overs bowled in the two-and-a-half hour session.
