Mancs brave the rain to visit parks in Bank Holiday Monday washout

After days of lovely dry and sunny weather, the May bank holiday has been an absolute washout.

Those hoping for a pleasant Monday, to take advantage of the recently opened beer gardens and outdoor restaurants, have been left disappointed.

But the inclement conditions didn't stop the hardy souls who took to Alexandra Park in Moss Side to get some fresh air earlier today.

Umbrellas and waterproof macs were the order of the day for the walkers and joggers who braved the rain.

There were some who even appeared to be enjoying the weather, with youngsters seen splashing around in the puddles.

Heavy rain is forecast for the rest of the afternoon across Greater Manchester, with showers expected to ease off slightly during the evening.

Temperatures are not expected to reach double figures.

Much of the same is forecast for tomorrow, with rain again predicted for much of the day.

Sunny intervals have been forecast for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with temperatures set to rise slightly.

Weather warnings have been issued for some areas of England today, with heavy rain and strong winds expected.
