Manchester woman turns hobby making birthday boxes for her dogs into a business
A Manchester business has created dog birthday boxes and other pet friendly products so you and your pet can celebrate their birthday in style.
Lola’s Doggy Boutique is rated as a top seller on Etsy, and sells a range of dog-related products including pet-friendly cakes, personalised dog biscuits, other accessories such as party hats and bow ties.
Business owner Annabel, 21 said the venture started as a hobby making items for her own two pets in her spare time before she realised she could turn her talents to creating products for other people too.
She told TeamDogs : “It eventually turned into something I loved doing so I decided to share it with other people.”
She owns two French bulldogs, Ava and Lola, from whom the inspiration for the name of the business came from.
The current best selling products are the personalised dog biscuits, and the dinosaur party hats.
Birthday boxes include a number of sweet treats for dogs, as well as a party hat with your pet’s age, and a bowtie with a happy birthday badge affixed to it.
There’s even a Halloween range, with ‘spooky season’ just around the corner.
Sophie Jancey commented: “Brilliant products. This is a second purchase now for my other dog’s birthday. Lovely products and well made.
“Love the little treats included. Thanks so much.”
Kelly Vanstone added: “Amazing product, the pup absolutely loved it and the owner was so great with a special request for ASAP delivery. Thank you!”
Since setting up Lola's Doggy Boutique on Etsy last year, the business has gone from strength to strength, completing nearly 800 sales and achieving a five star rating on the site.
Annabel accredits the success in part to the increasing number of dog owners looking to treat their pet on special occasions such as birthdays or other seasonal events.
She added: “I have noticed more and more people wanting to spoil their dogs on their birthday and I’m super happy to be helping them make their birthdays as best as they can be.”
