Dangerous conditions predicted for Tuesday morning rush-hour as Met Office issues freezing fog warning

A freezing fog warning has been issued for parts of Greater Manchester on Tuesday morning.

The yellow weather warning, in place from 4am until 11am, will affect areas in the south and west boroughs of the region.

Travellers should expect 'dense fog' and 'freezing fog patches', the Met Office warns.

It is 'likely to lead to some travel disruption', the website says.

People heading in to work have been told to expect slower journey times with 'delays to bus and train services possible'.

Flights may also be delayed or cancelled, the warning adds.

The Met Office also issued advice for people driving in fog.

Motorists are urged to drive slowly with dipped headlights, and use fog lights when possible.

They are also warned not to hang on the tail lights of the car in front as rear lights can give a false sense of security.

People are also warned to watch out for freezing fog as it can form a layer of ice.
