Manchester weather forecast as summer returns with 22C temperatures

For a while it felt like we were being treated to wall-to-wall sunshine just as we were told to stay indoors.

Since lockdown has eased, so has the sun and the rain returned with a bit of a vengeance.

But there's some good news as forecasters are predicting that summer will finally 'make a real comeback' with temperatures of up to 24C this weekend.

London and the southeast of England is expected to see the best of this sunshine on Sunday afternoon when the mercury should exceed 23C.

But what about in the north?

Greater Manchester will also get a taste of the summer sun with the Met Office predicting highs of 22C with plenty of sunny intervals by lunchtime.

However, you need to make the most of it while you can as a dry and sunny evening will steadily turn cloudy and as breeze picks up overnight in exposed areas, showery rain will spread eastwards through the early hours.

Monday is expected to see outbreaks of rain at times throughout the day, although much drier by the evening with max temperatures of 17C.

Looking ahead to later in the week, the Met Office says more unsettled conditions are expected with spells of rain and strong winds are likely to affect the north and northwest at times.
