Manchester United are in turmoil and Swansea City's Daniel James should avoid them at all costs, says ex-Leeds United star

Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills has urged Swansea City winger Daniel James to snub any potential move to Manchester United.

Speculation is rife around the 21-year old's future, with reports in the national media consistently linking James with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

WalesOnline understands no approach has yet been made for the forward, but rumours linking him with the Red Devils show little sign of dying down any time soon.

And, while there's currently little evidence to suggest that there is anything imminent, James has been urged by the ex-England international to reject any potential approach from United, and instead head to a club where he is likely to get more game time, adding that the turbulent end of the season shows that all is not well at the Theatre of Dreams.

Speaking to Football Insider, Mills said: “I’m not sure it’s the right move for James, going to Man United with all the turmoil they’re in.

"Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez are all still there, so he would be competing for a starting place with them.

“There is disharmony and discord as well. For a younger player like James, he needs to go and learn at a different club.

"He’s a frightening talent and has made real progress in recent months but there would be better clubs for him to go than being at a big club like United, where he would be left out and not improve.”

Swansea, who also face uncertainty over boss Graham Potter's future this summer, are surely resigned to losing James this summer, with the youngster enjoying a breakthrough season in the Championship.

Newcastle United and Bournemouth are among the clubs known to have made initial enquiries, but it seems there has not been any concrete interest from clubs higher up the Premier League food chain.
