Manchester United youngster signs new contract after joining from Liverpool

Ethan Ennis has signed his first professional contract at Manchester United.

Ennis, who only turned 17 on December 11, United from Liverpool in the summer and has started four times for the Under-18s this season.

The right winger came on for his Uefa Youth League debut against Young Boys earlier this month and Ennis also emerged in the FA Youth Cup victory over Scunthorpe at Old Trafford.

Ennis wrote on his Instagram page on Christmas Eve: "Delighted to have signed my first professional contract with Manchester United! A big thank you to my family and everybody who has helped me achieve this goal. Hard work continues."

Ennis was the standout signing by the United academy in an otherwise quiet summer. In 2020, the club recruited Marc Jurado from Barcelona, Alvaro Fernandez from Real Madrid, Alejandro Garnacho from Atletico Madrid, and Willy Kambwala from Sochaux.

Their domestic additions last year included Joe Hugill and Charlie McNeill. Brexit rules have made it prohibitive for clubs to sign teenagers from overseas clubs.
