Manchester United youngster Matej Kovar leaves on loan

Manchester United U-23 goalkeeper Matej Kovar has joined Swindon Town on a season-long loan deal subject to FA and EFL approval.

Kovar, 20, is yet to make a senior appearance for United but was named in their Europa League squad for the group stage game against Partizan Belgrade.

The youngster signed a new contract with the Reds back in October 2019 and has been a regular starter for the club's development teams.

Kovar is the third United youngster to leave the club on loan this summer after Tahith Chong joined Werder Bremen and Aliou Traore departed for SM Caen.

The goalkeeper expressed his delight at completing the loan move and the chance to further his development away from United.

"First of all, I'd like to say thank you to everyone for the nice welcome, even on the training ground. Everyone has been brilliant with me since I came," he told Swindon's official website.

"It was the right time to come here and get some experience in men's football. I'm really happy the club came to me and gave me this opportunity.

"The gaffer spoke to me in a pre-season game at Manchester United's training game and he's a really positive guy, said he wants to play football and that's what I'm really looking for."

United are also expected to loan out James Garner and Dylan Levitt in the coming weeks. They are expected to remain in England and join clubs competing in the football league.
