Manchester United youngster leaves ahead of new season

Oliver Denham has become the latest Manchester United youngster to leave, joining Cardiff City.

Defender Denham, 18, only made three starts for the Under-18s in the league over the last two seasons and has moved to the Championship club a year after the released United academy graduate Thomas Sang joined Cardiff.

The agency that represents Denham confirmed: "Deal done. Congratulations to Ollie Denham and the his family. Schooled at Manchester United FC and will now ply his trade at Cardiff City FC.

"An amazing turnaround for this young man in less than 6 months."

United sold Ben Hockenhull to Brentford in July after he featured in their FA Youth Cup victories at Old Trafford against Leeds United and Wigan Athletic.

Nine United players were released in the summer: Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Demetri Mitchell, Ethan Hamilton, Dion McGhee, George Tanner, Aidan Barlow, Kieran O’Hara, Alex Fojticek and Largie Ramazani.

Borthwick-Jackson has joined Oldham, Blackpool confirmed the signing of Mitchell this week after recruiting Fojticek, Hamilton is now with Peterborough, Tanner is at Carlisle, and Ramazani moved to Almeria in Spain.

O'Hara is surprisingly still clubless but was named in the Republic of Ireland squad for their Nations League matches this month. Aidan Barlow and Dion McGhee are without clubs.
