Manchester United youngster Dillon Hoogewerf scores sublime solo goal on international duty

Manchester United youngster Dillon Hoogewerf scored a sublime solo goal to help Netherlands' Under-17s bounce back from 2-0 to draw 2-2 with their USA counterparts.

The 16-year-old, who signed for United from Ajax in the summer and has already made two appearances for the club's Under-23s, continues his meteoric rise.

Since signing for United, Hoogewerf has scored three goals in 10 Under-18s games and is highly rated by those at the club. Under-23s boss Neil Wood has regularly picked him on the bench.

And playing for his country's Under-17s side, he took the ball from inside his own half, drove down the right flank and squeezed the ball home from an acute angle on 63 minutes. It halved the deficit, after USA Under-17s took a 2-0 lead in the Nike Friendlies international at Chicago, with the Dutch side eventually coming back to make it 2-2.

The Nike Friendlies is a tournament held in America for various countries' youth teams.

And Hoogewerf stole the show, despite Netherlands losing out to the USA Under-16s overall, who won the tournament ahead of older age group teams.

United fans will hope to see much more of Hoogewerf in the future. He is a forward who can play anywhere across the front line and is tipped for a big future.
