Manchester United youngster confirms exit and sends message over his future

Outgoing Manchester United youngster Regan Poole has confirmed his departure "wasn't a surprise" as he assesses his options this summer.

The Welshman will be released from his United contract when it expires on June 30, bringing an end a four-year stay at Old Trafford.

After spending the latter part of the season on loan with Newport County — and agonisingly losing the League Two play-off final 1-0 in extra time to Tranmere — Poole, 20 still has his sights set on the Wales national team and confirmed there are other clubs interested in his services.

"(Being released by United) wasn't a surprise. I had an idea what was going to happen but I've loved every minute there — they improved me as a player," he told the BBC.

"I've not really thought about what will happen next but there are a few clubs who are interested. Every footballer wants to play, I need to weigh up what suits me the best and where I can play every game of the season."

Poole remains focussed on the future despite only playing one minute of senior football in his time with United — a late substitute appearance in a 2016 Europe League tie against FC Midtjylland under Louis Van Gaal.

"I'm still the same player, my aims are still the same and I still feel I can break into the senior team with Wales," Poole added.

"And hopefully I can get a move to kick-on and help with that."
