Manchester United youngster Charlie McCann to sign for Rangers

Manchester United midfielder Charlie McCann is set to sign for Rangers.

McCann, 19, is expected to join the Scottish champions for a fee rising to £750,000 and will initially play in the Rangers B team.

Rangers believe the Republic of Ireland youth international could be ready to join the first-team squad in a year's time.

A deal was agreed for McCann early this week yet United Under-23s surprisingly started him in the 5-1 friendly win over Stalybridge on Tuesday.

United signed McCann from Coventry in January 2018 when he was 15 and he was a regular in their first Under-18 side to reach the FA Youth Cup semi-finals in eight years in 2020.

McCann is due to become United's first permanent sale of the summer. The club has already sanctioned loan moves for Reece Devine, Tahith Chong, Nathan Bishop, and Will Fish.

Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams are expected to secure season-long loans before the transfer window closes on August 31.
