Manchester United have yet to lodge a bid for Barcelona’s Pedro, with the La Liga champions only willing to do business if the forward’s £22m release clause is met.

Louis van Gaal wants the 27-year-old to bolster his forward line. Yet Josep Bartomeu, the new Barça president, said United have yet to make their interest official.

“We have not received any offers for any player,” he said. “I refer back to what head coach Luis Enrique said – if someone wants to sign our players then the release clause must be met. So far, no one has made an offer, so we are calm.”

Van Gaal may also be monitoring Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation at Real Madrid after the 30-year-old appeared to have a training ground disagreement with Rafael Benítez, the coach.
