Manchester United XI vs Nottingham Forest: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup, injury latest for Premier League

Manchester United will have Casemiro back available for their game against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The Red Devils take on Vitor Pereira’s side in their final home game of the campaign.

Michael Carrick has led them to an unlikely Champions League finish after taking over the reins from Ruben Amorim back in January.

Carrick missed experienced midfielder Casemiro for his side’s most recent outing - a 0-0 draw at Sunderland - but he can expect to welcome the Brazilian back into the fray for the visit of Forest.

The former Real Madrid man, who will play his last match at Old Trafford before leaving the club as a free agent in the summer, had been out with a minor knock.

Also returning to United’s midfield ranks is Manuel Ugarte, who also missed the trip to Wearside with a back problem.

It isn’t all good news for Carrick, however, with Benjamin Sesko likely to remain sidelined with a shin problem that also kept him out of the visit to the Stadium of Light.

Matthijs de Ligt is a longer-term absentee as he will undergo surgery that will keep him out for three months, according to Carrick.

Otherwise, United are at full strength.

Senne Lammens will continue in net, with Diogo Dalot at right-back and Luke Shaw on the left.

In the middle, Lisandro Martinez returned to the side from his injury lay-off last weekend to partner Harry Maguire, with Ayden Heaven dropping to the bench.

In the engine room, Mason Mount partnered Kobbie Mainoo in the North East, but the former Chelsea midfielder is likely to drop out in favour of Casemiro.

Ahead of them, Bruno Fernandes is chasing the Premier League record for most assists in a single season, and he will play as the No10 and don the captain’s armband.

Either side of him is likely to be Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, with the likelihood of both wide men switching flanks throughout the game.

Up top, that would leave Matheus Cunha or Joshua Zirkzee, who was handed a rare start at Sunderland but was hauled off after 65 minutes.

Predicted Man Utd XI (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Amad, Fernandes, Mbeumo; Cunha

Injured: Sesko, De Ligt

Venue: Old Trafford

Date and time: 12.30pm BST on Sunday, May 17, 2026
