Manchester United XI vs Man City: Predicted lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League

Bruno Fernandes could be moved into a more advanced role - (London Standard)

Benjamin Sesko could be handed his first Premier League start when Manchester United face Manchester City at the Etihad.

Ruben Amorim has hinted the Manchester derby is a “good moment” to start the £74million summer signing, following three top-flight substitute appearances of the bench.

“I think more than looking at exactly what he did during the games, it is what he can bring to our team," Amorim said of Sesko.

“If you see, against Burnley, he had some movements, especially inside the box, that we don’t have with Josh [Zirkzee], [Matheus] Cunha and even with Rasmus [Hojlund] in the past.

“We have a guy who likes to go inside the box to have a header, he can run - we need to use him more as a runner. He’s going to improve.

“You can feel that he feels the pace is different, he’s going to get used to that, but maybe, against City, it’s a good moment to start the game!"

Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot are unavailable for selection, so Amorim will be forced into changes.

Amorim has confirmed Altay Bayindir will retain his place in goal despite the signing of Senne Lammens.

Bruno Fernandes could move up into one of the dual No10 roles, which would open the door for Kobbie Mainoo to make his first Premier League start of the season.

It is a straightforward swap at left-wing back, with Patrick Dorgu replacing Dalot. The 20-year-old was used sparingly by Denmark during the international break so should be fresh.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Bayindir; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Amad, Mainoo, Casemiro, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Fernandes; Sesko

Injured: Cunha, Mount, Dalot, Martinez

Time and date: 4.30pm BST on Sunday, September 14, 2025
