That means Luke Shaw is expected to continue at left-back, though Brandon Williams could also be given minutes.
Facundo Pellistri did not travel as part of the 24-man squad, while Marcos Rojo, Sergio Romero and the injured Phil Jones will not be involved in the group stage after been omitted from the squad submitted to Uefa.
