Manchester United XI vs Everton: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Premier League game

Christian Eriksen is back in the Manchester United squad for their clash with Everton today, with Harry Maguire named in the starting lineup.

Luke Shaw misses out though as expected. On his 250th appearance for the club, and his first since signing a new four-year contract, Shaw came off after 36 minutes against Brentford in midweek and walked straight down the tunnel.

Manager Erik ten Hag was coy on the issue on Wednesday night, reluctant to give any information until Shaw was assessed.

“You have to see over days how [Shaw] progresses,” Ten Hag then told reporters on Friday. “Sometimes you underestimate this injury, but I think Luke did quite well and knows his body.

“He went off at the right moment before getting more damage. So in this moment we are quite positive about him returning quickly.”

Tyrell Malacia comes into the side in Shaw’s absence against Everton. There was also a decison for Ten Hag to make on the other side of the United defence, and it’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka now back from illness, who gets the nod over Diogo Dalot. Maguire partners Lisandro Martinez in the middle.

Wout Weghorst was dropped against Brentford and is named on the bench again. Ten Hag has been cautious with Anthony Martial on his return to fitness, starting Jadon Sancho instead on Wednesday night, and does so again with the Frenchman on the bench.

Eriksen is available and among the substitutes for the first time since January in a huge boost, though Casemiro is still suspended. Alejandro Garnacho is still sidelined along with the likes of Donny van de Beek and Tom Heaton.

Man United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia, McTominay, Sabitzer, Antony, Fernandes, Sancho, Rashford.

Subs: Lindelof, Martial, Eriksen, Fred, Varane, Dalot, Weghorst, Pellistri, Butland.
