Manchester United XI vs Burnley: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest today

Manchester United hand a start to Jonny Evans at centre-back against Burnley tonight as their injury woes continue.

Erik ten Hag has Raphael Varane back on the bench, after he missed the last three games, but he is not yet fit to start and Lisandro Martinez misses out on the squad entirely, as Evans comes into the side.

Sofyan Amrabat is among the substitutes and will hope to make his debut, but there is no Mason Mount again. Mount has been sidelined for four games with a muscle problem but returned to first-team training this week before skipping the Champions League trip to Bayern Munich, which United lost 4-3.

Harry Maguire is not in the squad after a late assessment.

"As you say, Harry Maguire but we will see again after training," United boss Erik ten Hag said on Friday.

"But Varane will train, we will see, Amrabat will train, we will see and Mount as well. But they didn't play for short or longer-term. Varane, obviously, was the shortest out."

United remain without a host of other players including Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Tom Heaton, Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo. Jadon Sancho and Antony are still unavailable for selection.

Manchester United XI: Onana, Dalot, Lindelof, Evans, Reguilon, Casemiro, Hannibal, Fernandes, McTominay, Rashford, Hojlund

Subs: Bayindir, Varane, Amrabat, Eriksen, Gore, Pellistri, Van de Beek, Garnacho, Martial

Time and date: 8pm BST, Saturday September 23, 2023

Venue: Turf Moor
